Well I think I need it!

Mum two closeup's you wanted me to send. Hope this is ok!

Edited post for my arty! farty! lovely mum to see the artwork on this apron she painted for a dear swapper friend of mine in USA. I do hope she likes this one and the other six I sent.....I know but I decided seven days of aprons was so much more fun to pack & send then just one Vintage apron swap....................and you all know how Vintage is so much a part of my life!!

I am sure I need another jug!
Wednesday I went down to see some of our darling grandchildren and while I was down there I went into an op-shop on Sydney road looking for a vintage apron for a swap I am in......I did find a couple of aprons and will show you them too...............washed and on the line along with the one my mum painted on the end there!..

However I also brought home a very cute Jug (Well I think I need it!) that is the words I said to my husband as it came out of the warm suds in the sink and me lovingly drying it.

I explained it had many things going for it.

Me: "its very cute"
Hubby: "you have many cute jugs"

Me: "its green"
Hubby: "you also have many green jugs"

Me: "well yes! but it also has spots"
Hubby: "well yes! you have got me there we have green jugs with cherries and flowers and even animals but no spots!"

Me: "See I told you I think I needed it"
Hubby gave up and laughed and just walked away. (smiles)
Now what do you think???? I like my new, old, vintage, little, dear, & beautiful jug!

Can you see it up on the shelf?

Can you see it now?

O! yes I agree I needed a green jug with spots didn't I.

BUT!!! HEHEHEHE!

I also got a a few other little pieces. a bit of embroidery, a truly lovely little maling pudding bowl and a great old like new pot holder, but best of all another (one must have a spare) of the BEST! older can opener's in the whole world. "Never give me one of those fancy new ones" I tell my family just look for these darling's they work so well.

SWING-A-WAY is what they are called and I believe they come from USA.

I am sure I needed all these pieces too. But you know what that is "this woman's secret" OK!

I wish you all a wonderful Friday, it is cold here but with the open fire burning things feel just right........you know what I mean!

As I don't have your email I couldn't answer you directly to your comment on my travel blog. Yes, I am living here in Waterloo the historical battle place. Each year the reconstitution of the battle takes place I wrote the first time about it in 2006 here http://gattinatravels.blogspot.com/2006/06/waterloo-my-town.html
We always have a lot of tourists too.
How interesting your family story !!

You got quite a lot of goodies on that one shop visit! The little jug is so pretty, and I always love old embroidery. As for the can opener, I use one almost identical to that one. I've had several electric can openers and they never work very good. Just give me the old-fashioned kind!

Love that green dotted jug and the funny little conversation between you and hubby that it inspired. Isn't it wonderful to recall such conversation and realize that it took decades and a lot of history to build that sort of mental togetherness? It was sweet and very tender. Thanks for sharing it with us. Annie

I have had many conversations with my partner like that! I wouldn't have been able to walk past the jug either...or the aprons.

I grew up in a house with a pear tree in the front garden. Every year we had so many pears my mother would put a big sign out saying 'FREE PEARS!'. As we lived next door to my school I thought this was the height of embarassment. I don't think mum ever knew that most of the pears ended up being thrown frpm bus windows by kids on their way home!

Of course you needed that jug. One can never have too many jugs. And it's very pretty.

You must spend quite a lot of time dusting all those things, though...

I like your new jug..its very pretty. I like all your new treaures. Thanks for coming by to visit me at my blog. It was nice to hear from you..smile. Summer is passing by so quickly. Between the heat and allergies and bug bites...I don't go out to much. But I love the beauty of it all the same. Tomorrow will be yard sale days around the neighborhoods. To go or not to go, that is the question...grin.

Well we could change it to little green Jug for the purposes of your post couldn't we. He he. Seriously though, what a nice collection. If you are traveling through Holbrook some time, drop in for a visit at the pottery museum there you would like their stuff.

That's a cute little jug, Lee-ann. I'm so glad you managed to convince Hubby you needed it.

I, too, prefer those can openers and I have one in my drawer...they work so smoothly and last for years. Well done, on your finds. I'm going to the markets tomorrow morning...can't wait to see what I'll find.

Hi LeeAnn,
You came away from your visit to the thrift store with some very nice finds! I think that green jug was a must have and looks perfect among your other treasures. I use a can opener very similar to yours. I can't stand the electric ones!
Have a great weekend!

One could never have enough jugs... or linen... or anything else one's heart desires.
Next time you are in a shop deciding if you should buy it or not.... remember that I said you could have it! lol
Have a lovely week my friend.
