Will the "very first" daffodil of the season please stand up and take a bow!

Yes dear double headed daffodil that is you!
this very first beautiful buttercup yellow king daffodil has the honour of being the first of over 30,000 (yep! about that) to grace our country garden. and a double header to boot............smiles all around here.

These little beautiful ones have been in this very same spot for over 50 years we think, well before pear tree cottage became our little haven.

"Daffodil a plant of the genus Narcissus (it has a bulbous root and beautiful flowers, usually a yellow hue (daf-o-dil) n. [G.asphodelos]"
Even the busy road outfront will not stop the beauty and grace of these lovely baulbs from showing.

We have been lovers of daffodils for many years and each year more and more special ones grace the garden for such a very short time in spring! but their beauty can stop traffic even! and each year we find people stopping getting out of their cars to take a photo or two of these lovely wonders of nature. my daffodils.

I will be adding more photos over the months so all my new blogger friends get to share in them as well.

How gorgeous!! Seems funny that you should just be getting these beautiful flowers and we had them way back in April and May here in the States. I know you live so far away...it is just incredible to think that we live so far away from each other yet we can visit like this. INCREDIBLE TO MY SMALL MIND!!
Take care...

Lee Ann. Thanks for visiting my blog...You wondered what Scavenger Saturday is? Well every Saturday there is a different theme. I can find the website for you. I usually go to one of the blog sites that I know she will be sharing the theme. Like today was "money". You can either go somewhere and take a picture of that theme...today was money (sometimes it is doors, cats, dogs, cars, etc.) and then post it. If you have ever went on a scavenger hunt it is similar to it. That is what we do on Saturdays here on line. I hope that explains it. Sandy

I do love daffodils! they are such a friendly little flower & now have the honour of raising money for the cancer council on daffodil day.
thankyou for visiting my new blog, Lee-ann - it is always so heartening when friends stop by - I wish your friend well with her fight with diabetes - there is so much more help now than there was for my nan. blessings - R xo

Your garden must be a stunning sight with all those daffodils in flower. Photos, please.

Daffodils are more than just a lovely bright flower, they are also confirmation that Spring is here and most of the cold of winter is passed.

You must also have a very large garden by the sound of it. Kyneton in the Spring - what bliss.

Hi Lee-ann, thanks for visiting my blog :) I just love daffodils and really enjoyed your pictures. Our summer is nearly over here in Canada, and then I'm bracing myself for a long, cold winter.
