Lucky to be an Artist - fairy wrens for me.

Just thought I would share this beautiful plate my mum painted for me a year back as we have lovely fairy wrens in our garden and they are such a joy to see and watch all summer long.
They are not back yet this year but I know they will come again.
My mother loves them so much and each time she comes to visit in the summer she looks for them, we can find her in the garden trying to study them as they scurry about.

Mum has been an artist for as long as I can remember and I loved to watch her as a little girl mix the paints and do such lovely work. She still has a small group she teaches and loves to share her skills. She does china painting but is also an expert at any other medium she wishes to put her hand to.

Her work has been sent all around the world and I am very proud of her.

This is my Friday!

Your mother is a real gem, isn't she. That plate is so lovely. It must have been wonderful to watch your mother at work over the years. Your love and admiration for her really shines through in your writing. I hope you will be able to enjoy each other's company for many years to come.

Amazing! I am always astonished when I see that someone can create a likeness of something and make it so REAL! Those birds could jump right off the plate and eat seed out of your hand! Neat!

Lee-Ann, that plate is beautiful! Your mum is so talented. I really admire artistic people and often wish I had a drop of that type of talent.

Fairy wrens make lovely subjects, too.

The Fairy Wren is such a beautiful little bird. We have had them in our garden some years but they took fright a couple of years ago when my husband had to chainsaw down a tree( not their tree) and we haven't seen them since.Your mother's work is beautiful.

I couldn't help but compare our backgrounds...you and me. My mother was also an artist and I was one of 5 children...and had a very happy child hood also. I love the wedding pix of your "mum" in your last blog. Her painting of the birds is lovely.

Thank you so very much everyone for your lovely comments.

I read them to my mother last night over the phone and she was feeling rather proud of herself and also wanted me to add her thanks on the kindness of those who visit my little blog page.

Mum is still having trouble with the idear that you are all in different parts of the world yet you all can visit me down here in Australia as easy as that! :o)

I am going to visit everyone now so see you soon!
