I Have a collection!
O! YES! another one that is very special and a true treasure to us and our family.
I probably should explain from the beginning.
My husband and I collect Christmas decorations, vintage ones and they have always been tucked away until Christmas comes around again. Then they all come out and we "DECK THE HALLS" of our little cottage.
Anyway we were asked (what an honour) if we would like to display them this year at the Melbourne Museum our number one museum in the state of Victoria. Well we talked about it for a minute!!!!!! and decided it was time to share the happiness of Christmas past with many others so............................
This weekend you will find my husband and myself in the museum setting up all our vintage decorations (under glass!!) and our feather trees and many other pieces I just know the children and many children at heart will love and adore them as we do.
Our feather tree will be filled with glass birds and glass decorations going back some of them to the 1800's and then there is the beautiful shiny brite baubles and the many different vintage glass shaped decorations even a pickle. Just to mention a few!!!!!
The colours are lovely and to think that they dressed up many a Christmas tree before they were to become a treasured collection of ours.
My hubby and I had a Christmas shop and it was open all year but at Christmas time it was such a joy to see the faces of the little children when they could hear Santa arrive on the roof with his reindeers to visit with them for an hour or two.
We miss it all but now are just happy to enjoy the faces of our little grandchildren when they see Santa come to the door to make a very special visit to our house on Christmas morning.
One little elf in our family said being at Nanni's and poppi's is like visitng Santa at the north pole

We are also honoured as the museum staff have asked us if we could decorate their huge Christmas tree this year at the front entrance of the museum and as We have lots of pieces worthy of a spot on the tree that will be just a wonderful thing to do.
So I am about to take all the decorations out of their boxes and but them all in order for the very big event "DECKING THE HALLS" of the Melbourne Muesum.

It is truly the biggest honour and we are proud to have been asked.
This is my (Our) Monday

Oh how fun!! And what a honor to be able to display your pretty things in this way. I'd love to see those Shiny Brites up close. I have a few on my tree, too, and you're the first blogger I've read who has mentioned using them. Mine aren't original to me -- I bought them second hand, but they are so pretty and fun to hang on the tree.
Hope you had a very Happy Birthday!
Decorating the museum sounds like a real honor and sharing your treasures is so generous of you both!
Can't wait to see some pictures!
((hugs))

Wow, that is an incredible honour. I haven't been to the Melbourne Museum for years ... might be time for a visit. Won't your house be lonely without all those decorations, though ?? Hope you save some for yourselves !!
Take care, Meow
How absolutely lovely. It's great you are sharing your treasures so many people can see them this year. Please, please post photos of the display.

Oh my goodness, Lee-Ann, what an honour indeed!!! I can just imagine how exciting it will be to place all your ornaments at the museum...how I wish I could see them! So often we tend to horde items like that, without realizing how many people would get great joy out of seeing them! You truly are a blessing to the Christmas season!! xoxo
So glad I stopped by your blog on one of my now rare outings into blogger land. Because now I know what I will be doing this weekend - going to the Melbourne Museum to see your decorations! Congratulations!
A belated Happy Birthday to you Lee-Ann and what an honor to be asked to display and decorate with your vintage ornaments at the Melbourne Museum. I can't wait to see some pictures. Have fun Decking the Halls and if you see Val, say "Hi" to her from Sandy.
Hugs to you,
Sandy
