Why does my heart skip?

Yes, Why does my heart skip when I find an old jug without its handle............I can see myself right now, heart racing reaching over to gently pick up the very old and very unloved jug with its handle missing and a chip or two. They are rare yes! they are! you see in this sad condition they will find their way to the rubbish tip and it is not often you can find one at all. But here is my latest find a beautiful jug hand painted roses on the front and back a beautiful piece and now it is loved again and has found another use in my home as a lovely vase filled with fresh flowers I can almost hear this little jug saying "thank you"
Old pieces to me are so wonderful and they have so much yet to give who would think an old jug with no handle could give so much happiness. The beauty these pieces hold is once again taking pride of place in my home.
I just would love to know their history, who had them before me, what they were used for.

My other find this week was this lovely green mix and match set just purfect! for an afternoon tea with friends. the trios are Noritake and the cake plate is Royal staffordshire china but you would think they were ment for each other. The soft aqua green on both are a true match and so these little old pieces have now come together to fill a corner of my home and next time I have a visitor drop by for a cuppa and a chat I think these lovely pieces will find their way to the table.

HI Lee-Ann
just love your little jug glad it found a new home. and now the mint green tea set. I had exactly the same Dinner set and my sister had an very pastel Apricot colour set we Bought them in 1958 I remember because it was just before she married and i married in 1959 But
over the years its dissappeared. but i have my grandmothers full tea set with milk jug and sugar bowl it would be well over 100 years old 1 day i might get it out and blog it with a few other treasures .

Those trios are so beautiful! And I love how you rescued that jug. I'll see items in shops with different eyes from now on.

Where do you find all of these treasures, Lee-Ann? They are beautiful. I love stuff like this but just have no room left anymore. A lot of my grandmothers things are downstairs now in big containers. I wish that I could get them out but I have no where to put them. I know you would love them. Take care. Sandy

Lee Ann,
I think Tammy has just the perfect idea for a tea party.
Your jug is lovely...
I will someday post a picture of my Mom's vintage water jug. It looks so much like yours but has a cup over the opening. (2 pieces)
((hugs))

The jug is beautiful....and so are the books sitting next to it! And I love the pale green color of the tea cups and little platter. I wish I could come for tea and use one of the cups. How nice that would be.

Oh my, they do look as if they belong together. I love your handle-less jug and the fact that you find beauty in them and rescue them and give them a wonderful cozy home. You're a special person. :)

What a find - the handless jug makes a lovely vase and the matching trio is a real bonus. I'll be over soon for a cuppa, lol!

Take care

Hi,
I came across your blog while looking for blogs with gardening posts in them. What an enchanting cottage you have here...so full of life, love and character. I'm so glad I stopped by! You have a very warm and welcoming blog just like I'm sure your home is. I am amazed in all this huge land of bloggers that I actually recognize a couple of people (so far) that have posted to you! Small world afterall! I'll be back for more visiting.

Lee-anne, I love your latest finds! The rose jug is beautiful, as are all the other pieces. Our good china is blue and white Noritake. I love it! My hubby and I chose it from the PX catalog while sitting at the beach on our 2-day honeymoon in Gosford (1971). He was still in the service then. You're bringing back some happy memories to me :) Thank you!
