AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND

It is always a lovely weekend to spend with family and friends a time to show how much we love our country and a time to give thanks for our good health and happiness This is one of the "LUCKY COUNTRIES"
Yes we are content my husband Rob and I and so for the three days we will be busy as the bees in our garden doing only what we feel like doing and enjoying every moment.

Yesterday we went to the "must do!" Fryers town Antique fair

We spend one of the three days there and enjoy every moment well we did find some great "bits" and darling hubby Rob carried the lot.

Here he is out the front of one of the sites - there are approx. 300 dealers sites, And there was everything you can imagine or ever wish to collect.

This fair started 33 years ago just to make enough to keep the old hall (you can see it up the back of this photo) repaired now it is a "must do" for us collectors. The stall holders come from around Australia or just up the road. It was great fun, even if it was so very dusty and hot.

We went back to our car and dropped off some bits and sat in the cool and ate lunch before heading back in to see more, and more, and more! (smiles)

Here I am looking at a lovely cottage cup & saucer but put it back to see what was in the next tent. I was like a child in a candy store my husband said..........."Well!" I said "I'm not like that I do have control you know Rob" (he just laughed!) secretly I think he possibly was right. I had such a good time but did not drink enough and came home with a headache as well as some treasures.

I found some lovely pieces at a great price. Five pieces of bell china including the sugar bowl (with the little orange flowers) a Meakin trio at the back with the word mother on it, also two cup & saucers Johnson bros. with pink blossoms, a table spoon in silver, four lovely old dessert spoons, two jam or sugar spoons and a set of cake forks. Also the great 1940's wooden chopping board and the poka dot tea set pieces................then I got. (smiles)

Some vintage linen..............Two stunning large white table cloths and a lovely embroidered one and a nice embroidered tray cloth a land painted 1930's little face powder compact. O! and two lovely vintage 1950's sewing patterns that will find their way into my eBay auctions.
Then I found one other little piece for a dear collector this pieces was a whole $2.00 so had to get it as a give yes for you Gina (smiles)
It is rather cute! isn't it?
My dear Husband didn't find anything he loves books and looked at them all but his passion is masonic and freemasonry and they are very hard to find. He did see some flounder fishing great and was tempted but then chose not to get it.
Today is the second day of the three day "AUSTRALIA DAY HOLIDAY" and we are just chasing family on the Internet for our family tree, watching the cricket and having a huge big roast lunch.
Tomorrow we are out all day visiting grandchildren and their mum's & dad's lunch at one family and Dinner at another that will be fun.
So............HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY to my dear Aussie blogger friends and a Truly lovely day to those over seas trying to keep warm.
This is my Sunday! full of Holidays fun!

And a Happy Australia Day to you too, Lee-ann. You sound as if you have had a happy one. Ooh, I do like the look of that fair and you certainly had some lovely buys. I'm very envious...lol.

It's been a wonderful weekend here, fine with no storms, but very hot and humid, typical summer weather in other words.

It's now Monday, so enjoy the last day of the long weekend.

I'm glad you had a happy Australia Day and hope your entire long weekend was just as much fun. We had a long one last weekend with Martin Luther King Day.

Hi,
Thank you for visiting my blog. Happy Australia Day to you too. You probably don't know that I am a transplanted Sydneyite (husband also), living in Vancouver for 46 years now, but we'll always be Australian, only Canadian too now.
I couldn't figure how you came but I see Leslie on the Hippeastrum post (had one on my blog very recently too, but strictly indoors for us).

Do you belong to the new Aussie Bloggers forum? I am thinking about joining as an expat.

Thanks for visiting and it looks like you did well on your day out at the fair.
regards

Thank you so much for coming over for a visit today - it's has been awhile, hasn't it? Australia's three day celebration sounds lovely! I really would like to make it over there someday.

You have a beautiful new granddaughter, too. Isn't it just so much fun?

You got some wonderful treasures - beautiful!

Come back again soon!

Oh what fun!!! Your newly found treasures are sweet. I have a few patterns from the 40's and 50s. I didn't know they sell them on e-bay.
I also have some old linens I cherish that my grandma made and embroidered.
I'm a little late but wish you a happy Australia Day!

Hi Lee-ann

How lovely to hear from you again. It's been a while, as you say. What a joy to know you can go to an antiques fair and that the weather will be good! Not like the ones I write about!!

I meant to mention about it being Australia Day in my post - I think that's why the bride and groom picked that day, so that they could save on some of their holiday entitlement!

Your vintage finds are lovely, as are your gorgeous grandchildren.

I'll catch up with all your other posts now ...

Happy days ...
Sue

Three day Australia Day holiday-WOW! That sounds so nice, why doesn't our country do that? (USA) lol It would be nice.

I hope you are enjoying yourself, and thanks for telling me about how the honey cured your husband of his asthma and hayfever. People need to know there is a possible cure out there vs. using all these medicines and drugs, and it's natural! I'm scared of bees though! lol

Those are some beautiful things you got, I love antiques. I pick up some of those same types of things.

Once I was selling something on eBay, I don't remember now what it was, and a woman from Australia was interested in something. But the postage to mail it there was so much that we decided against it.

It was sad, because I wanted to sell it to her, but it just wasn't practical. I guess that's what happens when you live on the other side of the world from each other. It's pretty neat that you can talk via internet though! :)
