Jam making season

Hello to every one!

We are living very busy lives here and never have time to do the things we truly love!

But today if I can I would like to share a little of what we did.

We have berries growing at the back of our garden and so today I made mixed berries jam and it was a wonderful thing to do.

We do not eat lots of jam but it is always fun to add to the pantry and enjoy on scones with fresh cream.

Here are the steps I took in photos!

My kitchen bench!

weighing the fruit!

making a small batch at a time!

starting the cooking!

Testing if it is set!

Ready for the jars!

Filling the hot jars.

This is Our Sunday!

Summer is months away for us .. so the berry jam brought a nice reminder of what is just ahead. Good to see you make a post.

And what a lovely way to spend it!! Those look like the heavy fat old Blackberries from our bramble in Mississippi, but then the colour changes to rosy in the cooking.

We're THINKING about Spring, really hard, but the little wisps of snowflakes across the back yard postpone any hope of green just yet. And the scuppernongs in the freezer---the ones I saved for WINTER to make the jelly on a cozy day---they're still in there, just pearly green marbles calling my name.

Happy Almost Autumn to you ALL!

Oh, and by the way, you may not know but I'm gone back to my old blog. You can find me again working at Scenes From A Slowmoving Train.

That looks delicious!!!! Last year I made a mixed fruit jam too using blackberries, raspberries and blueberries. It is nice too. I have never made scones but I have a recipe. IS it something like a biscuit? Also ehat kind of cream do you use and how do you prepare it? You can e-mail me if you like

That jam looked delicious - any left? Berry jam is definitely my favourite; I just can't decide which berry, although blackberries would have to be somewhere near the top. I remember blackberrying with my Grandma when I was seven year old - a long time ago!
